On Saturday, March 12, Pani Cindy Zboyovski and Gloria Kouvolo from our deanery parish of St. Joseph in Candler, NC travelled to Woodstock, GA and conducted a session on Pysanky making. At the beginning of the session Gloria stressed that all of the participants would complete a design by the session end and much to our surprise, we all were able to make beautiful Pysanky. Several of the participants purchased kits and tools for making Pysanky in the future. Besides the fellowship with members of one of our deanery parishes, we all learned thr beginnings of the ancient and beautiful art of Pysanky making. We are grateful to Pani Cindy and Gloria for making the long trip from North Carolina.

On Sunday, October 17, Fr. Nectarios and Pani Diane Trevino from the Nativity of our Lord Mission in Manassas, VA visited with the parish and concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with Fr. Paul. Fr. Nectarios gave an inspirational sermon on bringing a mission toward completion and of the things to be mindful of. The Nativity of our Lord has a building and is completing work on the interior so that the parish will have a church in which to worship. After Liturgy, Father and Pani were feted to a buffet luncheon prepared by the parishioners of St. Elizabeth. The luncheon gave everyone an opportunity to meet with our visitors and also for some St. Elizabeth parishioners who had been parishioners of the Nativity of our Lord to catch up on the happenings at their former parish. Everyone enjoyed themselves and welcomed the opportunity to meet a pastor from another parish in our deanery and our diocese. May God grant Fr. Nectarios and Pani Diane and the parish of the Nativity of our Lord many happy and blessed years!

On Wednesday July 21st, ten members of Saint Elizabeth Church traveled to Candler, NC to be with His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, Father John and Pani Cindy Zboyovski and the parishioners of our fellow deanery parish Saint Joseph. Father John is the pastor of Saint Joseph. The occasion was the ground breaking and blessing and anointing with olive oil of the corner stone for their new church. The day was a usual sunny and warm one for western NC as the procession greeted His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas at the site for the blessing. The procession was lead by John Zboyovski, Jr., son of Father John and Pani Cindy and included Father Mark Tyson from the Dormition of the Mother of God in Bluefield, WV, Father Paul Stoll from Saint Elizabeth and Father Deacon Michael Ellis from Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown. After the ground breaking, all processed to the grave of the recently reposed Andrew Zboyovski, brother of Father John, where His Eminence blessed the gravestone and intoned Eternal Memory. Andrew Zboyovski had donated the land for establishing the parish in Candler. Then we all gathered at the home of Father John and Pani Cindy for a celebration with wonderful food, live music and excellent fellowship. Afterward the joyous but tired Saint Elizabeth parishioners bade farewell to His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, Father John and Pani Cindy and their children and the parishioners of Saint Joseph and made their way south and to home.
